BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — U.S. Open champion Juan Martin Del Potro is set for surgery on his right wrist and says he could be out for "a long period."
The Argentine has not played since a Jan. 24 loss at the Australian Open.
In a letter from Del Potro read on Argentine radio, he says he expects to have surgery Tuesday at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
