METAIRIE, La. — The New Orleans Saints and All-Pro guard Jahri Evans have reached an agreement on a seven-year contract worth nearly $57 million.
A person familiar with the contract told The Associated Press the deal was for $56.7 million. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the financial terms were not disclosed by the club.
General manager Mickey Loomis announced the length of the deal on Wednesday.
Evans, who has been a restricted free agent for the past two seasons, has started all 64 games at right guard since being drafted in the fourth round in 2006 out of Bloomsburg. Last season, he was named both All-Pro and to the Pro Bowl after as part of a unit that made Drew Brees among the least sacked quarterbacks in the NFL.
