An hourlong documentary about the life of Princess Kaiulani featuring new footage and commentary tied to to the making of the controversial film "Princess Kaiulani," will air at 6 p.m. Saturday evening on Hawaii's KGMB (CBS).

"Princess Kaiulani: The Story Behind the Film" offers details on how the film was created, from inspiration to execution, and a historic view of the life of Princess Kaiulani. Also, it features exclusive footage of the film's stars, including Q'orianka Kilcher, Barry Pepper and Will Patton.

"Princess Kaiulani" had its world premiere at the 2009 Hawaii International Film Festival (under the title "Barbarian Princess") where it sold out all screenings and won the Audience Award for Best Feature Film. "Princess Kaiulani" is scheduled for national release on May 14 in 14 cities.

An encore presentation of "Princess Kaiulani: The Story Behind the Film" is scheduled for 9 p.m. June 5 on KHNL (NBC) .
