JUSTIN JAMES JAMS

Singer Justin James (not to be confused with our own Justin James, a local drummer) may not be a local boy, but he's got serious love for the Islands. James will be performing two shows on O'ahu this weekend in support of his new album "Perfect Sometimes," which was produced by Mikal Blue (Colbie Caillat, One Republic, Angel Taylor). The video for the title track was filmed on O'ahu and features Jake Shimabukuro on 'ukulele.

James, 20, is a California native who started making music during his recovery from a surfing incident in which he was attacked by a tiger shark. The near-death experience prompted him to take stock of his life and was the inspiration for his music — mellow singer-songwriter acoustic jams.

THE BIG PINEAPPLE

The Wahiawa Pineapple Festival happens from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow at Wahiawa District Park. This year's theme: the history of Wahiawa, with cultural displays and demonstrations, food, crafts, games and, of course, plenty of pineapple. The festival is free.
