WAILUKU, Maui — Chris Chung pitched a six-hitter with five strikeouts and no walks and Saint Louis broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the sixth inning yesterday to hold off Kailua, 4-2, in the Wally Yonamine Foundation Baseball State Championship quarterfinals.

The No. 2 seed and Interscholastic League of Honolulu champion Crusaders improved to 17-2 in the regular and postseason and will face No. 3 seed and Maui Interscholastic League champion Baldwin (14-1) in today's 4 p.m. semifinal at Iron Maehara Stadium.

"We still can't let up," said Chung, a senior right-hander who is committed to play for Southern Utah University next season. "We gotta keep the foot on the gas and come back with another tough game tomorrow."

Chung was locked in a pitchers' duel with Kailua junior right-hander Alika Ramseyer-Ho through the first five innings. Ramseyer-Ho had allowed only three hits and only one runner past first base.

The Crusaders finally broke through in the sixth on Kaeo Aliviado's bloop RBI single to left and Kalei Contrades' two-run single to center. The Surfriders closed to 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth on Jared Matsumoto's RBI double to left, but Saint Louis answered with Kyle Watase's run-scoring single to left.

Kailua scored in the seventh on Kory Sasaoka's two-out RBI single to right, but Chung closed out the game with a groundout.
