Punahou captures third straight state girls water polo title

Punahou defeated 'Iolani, 9-2, for its third straight HHSAA Girls Water Polo State Championship and fifth overall today at the Veterans' Memorial Aquatic Center at the Patsy T. Mink Central O'ahu Regional Park.
Punahou (11-0) outscored opponents 157-18 during a season where practices may have been more competitive than a few of its games.
Punahou junior Brailey Hirose-Hulbert scored three goals and tournament Most Outstanding Player Shayna Price added one as it scored the first four goals of the game. 'Iolani (7-5) sophomore Nicolette Silva scored on a man-up situation for the Raiders in the 4-1 first quarter.
Each team scored once in the second quarter, with Price for Punahou and Silva for 'Iolani for the 5-2 halftime score.
Punahou junior Chauncey Hirose-Hulbert and senior Megan Steele added goals in the third quarter for some breathing room and a 7-2 advantage. The Buffanblu received goals from junior Abby Yosaitis and Price in the fourth quarter.
