Judo: Chinese champ banned for 2 years for doping

Associated Press

TUNIS, Tunisia — Chinese Olympic judo champion Tong Wen has been suspended for two years for doping.

The International Judo Federation announced the ban Sunday and said it would be up to the International Olympic Committee to strip her gold medal.

IJF secretary general Hedi Dhouib says the four-time world champion tested positive for a "dangerous" drug on WADA's banned list. China's news agency reported Saturday that Tong tested positive for Clenbuterol after winning a title in the Netherlands last year.

Tong came from behind to win gold in the women's over 78-kilogram category at the 2008 Beijing Games.
