PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Phillies bullpen finished what Cole Hamels started, and Placido Polanco, Jayson Werth and Shane Victorino provided the offense.

Each of them hit solo home runs yesterday, and the Phillies' bullpen worked four perfect innings in relief of a shaky Hamels to give Philadelphia a 5-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves.

"It's nice to get outs," said Chad Durbin, who worked the sixth and seventh innings. "It's the same as when you're in Little League, get outs so you can hit."

Hamels (3-2) struggled on a chilly afternoon at Citizens Bank Park, allowing three runs and eight hits in five innings. He walked four and struck out five.

Brad Lidge threw a perfect ninth for his first regular-season save since Sept. 20.

Troy Glaus had two hits and two RBIs for the Braves. Kenshin Kawakami (0-6) surrendered five runs and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings.

"If I said I wasn't frustrated, I'd be lying," said Kawakami, whose ERA rose to 5.73. "They have too much power."

GIANTS 6, METS 5

Aaron Rowand hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning after the Giants blew a two-run lead for Tim Lincecum, and visiting San Francisco snapped the Mets' nine-game home winning streak.

Lincecum left after six innings with a 4-2 lead but the Giants fell apart in the seventh. Jason Bay's wind-aided two-run single off Dan Runzler tied it and David Wright gave New York its first lead with a sacrifice fly.

DODGERS 2, ROCKIES 0

Clayton Kershaw fired eight innings of two-hit ball, leading host Los Angeles over Colorado.

Kershaw (2-2) struck out nine, walked three and fanned five-time All-Star Todd Helton his first three times up. Ubaldo Jimenez (6-1) gave up one run and two hits in seven innings for Colorado.

REDS 5, CUBS 3

Joey Votto hit a two-out, three-run homer off Ryan Dempster (2-3) in the seventh inning to help Mike Leake (3-0) and host Cincinnati beat Chicago.

Leake didn't allow a hit until the sixth and allowed three runs with six strikeouts in seven innings.

NATIONALS 3, MARLINS 2

Josh Willingham homered in the eighth inning, and Washington reliever Tyler Clippard earned his sixth win of the season by beating visiting Florida.

Willingham hit a 1-1 changeup from Clay Hensley (1-1) into the left-field bullpen for his sixth homer. Clippard (6-0) entered in the eighth inning and allowed only Jorge Cantu's sacrifice fly while escaping a bases-loaded, no-out jam.

CARDINALS 11, PIRATES 4

Yadier Molina drove in three runs and St. Louis beat host Pittsburgh.

Adam Wainwright (5-1) gave up two runs and five hits over six innings. He is 16-5 in his last 26 starts.

BREWERS 6, DIAMONDBACKS 1

Chris Narveson gave up three hits pitching into the sixth inning and drove in a run, helping Milwaukee complete a three-game sweep of host Arizona.

The Brewers got homers from Prince Fielder, Casey McGehee and Gregg Zaun. Narveson (3-0) allowed one run, struck out eight and walked two in 5 2/3 innings.

ASTROS 4, PADRES 3, 11 INNINGS

Hunter Pence drove in Lance Berkman with a double in the 11th inning and host Houston snapped a three-game losing streak by beating San Diego.

Pence and Carlos Lee hit back-to-back homers off Edward Mujica in the sixth and Pedro Feliz drove in the tying run with a sacrifice fly off closer Heath Bell in the ninth.

AMERICAN LEAGUE

INDIANS 7, TIGERS 4

Andy Marte drove in three runs, Mark Grudzielanek had three hits and two RBIs and host Cleveland snapped a five-game skid by beating Detroit.

Grudzielanek hit a tiebreaking RBI single off Max Scherzer (1-3) in the fifth and singled in another run in the seventh to make it 6-4. Marte added a sacrifice fly for the final run.

BLUE JAYS 9, WHITE SOX 7

Fred Lewis hit a three-run homer off Bobby Jenks and Toronto rallied to beat host Chicago, getting homers from Vernon Wells and Adam Lind along the way.

Jenks (1-1) failed to retire any of the four batters he faced. Travis Snider doubled and John Buck singled before Lewis drove a 3-1 pitch into the right-field seats to give the Blue Jays an 8-7 lead. It was Lewis' second homer of the season.

TWINS 6, ORIOLES 0

Nick Blackburn threw seven strong innings, Denard Span had his third three-hit game of the month and host Minnesota earned a split of the four-game series with Baltimore.

Joe Mauer was 1 for 3 as Minnesota's designated hitter, his first start after missing eight games because of a deeply bruised left heel. Blackburn (3-1), who pitched a complete game Tuesday, allowed just four hits.

RANGERS 6, ROYALS 4

David Murphy had three hits and drove in two runs, Max Ramirez contributed the go-ahead RBI in the fifth and host Texas completed a four-game sweep of Kansas City.

Doug Mathis (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings for the victory. Neftali Feliz got three outs for his third save in the series and ninth overall.

MARINERS 8, ANGELS 1

Josh Wilson and Michael Saunders hit back-to-back home runs in Seattle's four-run fourth inning against visiting Los Angeles.

Mariners starter Jason Vargas (3-2) threw 7 1/3 innings, scattering four hits and one unearned run.

RED SOX 9, YANKEES 3

Jon Lester (3-2) allowed two runs and struck out seven in seven innings and Jeremy Hermida homered and drove in three runs as host Boston beat New York to avoid a three-game sweep.

Alex Rodriguez tied Hall of Famer Frank Robinson for seventh place with 586 career homers when he hit a solo shot off Lester in the fourth.
