Police yesterday arrested a 59-year-old Kailua woman woman on suspicion of trying to run over a police officer in the parking lot of a Nu'uanu church Monday night.
Ellen M. Endo was arrested at 9:25 a.m. at her Humu'ula Street home. She was booked for investigation of first-degree attempted murder.
Police said an undercover officer and her partner saw a suspicious vehicle in the lot about 9 p.m. Monday and that the woman driving the car appeared to be engaged in a drug transaction.
One of the officers approached the driver's side of the car, announced that she was a police officer and showed her badge.
Police said the driver put the car in reverse and twice drove at the officer, coming within 3 feet of her the second time.
The officer drew her gun, but the car left the parking lot via a second exit, police said.
Both officers were able to get the license number.
