HONOLULU — Democrats Ed Case and Colleen Hanabusa have aimed their rhetorical fire at Republican Charles Djou at the last debate among the three leading candidates for Hawaii's vacant congressional seat.
Hanabusa and Case on Friday criticized Djou's opposition to last year's economic stimulus law, his assertion that he has never voted for a tax hike, and his statement Thursday to a Washington newspaper that the race is "pretty much over."
Djou stressed that he does not believe the contest is over. He also says the 1st Congressional District seat, which has been held by Democrats for almost 20 years, does not belong to the Democratic Party.
The debate was taped Friday and will be aired Saturday at 5 p.m. on KHON.
