Royals' Kila Kaaihue optioned to Triple-A Omaha

BALTIMORE — The Kansas City Royals have purchased the contract of relief pitcher Bryan Bullington from Triple-A Omaha and optioned first baseman Kila Ka'aihue to the same club.
Bullington, who was drafted No. 1 overall in 2002 by Pittsburgh, was 2-0 with a 1.73 ERA in seven games this season at Omaha.
The move gives manager Ned Yost some options in the bullpen because reliever Robinson Tejada is nursing a sore calf.
Ka'aihue, an 'Iolani School alum from Kailua played in two games this season for the Royals, going 1 for 4.
