Suspect in armed robbery arrested after car chase
Police yesterday arrested a 23-year-old man as a suspect in the knife-point robbery of a store on Kaheka Street Sunday night.
The store owner told police a man brandishing a knife entered the store about 11:10 p.m. Sunday and demanded money from the cash register.
The robber was given an undisclosed amount of cash and ran off, police said.
About 1:35 a.m. yesterday, a police officer saw a man stopped at a red light who matched the description of the robbery suspect.
The man sped off when the officer tried to pull him over. The suspect wound up in a dead-end street, where the officer arrested him on suspicion of first-degree robbery, refusing an order to stop a motor vehicle, reckless driving, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle collision, and two traffic court contempt warrants.
