Full nighttime lane closures of the road around Makapu'u have been postponed this week but will resume Sunday night, the state Department of Transportation announced.

The state is reinforcing the retaining wall and stabilizing the cliffside between Makapu'u Beach Park and the Ka Iwi Scenic Lookout.

Beginning Sunday and through May 28, Kalaniana'ole Highway in that area will be closed in both directions each night from 9:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
