Two teenagers were indicted Thursday on charges of kidnapping and assaulting a 17-year-old acquaintance on May 15.
Charged were Bladesin-Isaiah Bailey, 19, and Andrew J. Rodriguez, 18.
Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Victoria Kapp said Bladesin-Bailey and Rodriguez drove to the victim's home and spoke to him while he was outside smoking a cigarette.
The victim got in the car with Bladesin-Bailey and Rodriguez and they drove to a nearby Waiau park, Kapp said.
"As the victim started to exit the car, co-defendant Bladesin-Bailey punched him several times in the face," Kapp said.
The victim was then handcuffed and put in the trunk of the car and was eventually driven to a trailhead, where the victim was taken from the trunk and a bag placed over his said, Kapp said.
After walking down the trail, "both defendants then punched him several more times in the head" before releasing him with the handcuffs still on his wrists, Kapp said.
"He was able to get help from a nearby neighbor," the prosecutor said.
Bail has been set at $20,000 for each defendant.
