Alexandra Aguirre went 2 for 4 with four RBI, including a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth to finish off Hawai'i's 10-2 victory over UC Davis in the opening game of the NCAA Women's Softball Tournament's Stanford Regional at Stanford, Calif.

The Rainbow Wahine (45-13) plays Stanford at 9 a.m. tomorrow (Hawai'i time) in the double-elimination tournament. Stanford beat Texas Tech, 5-4. UC Davis is 26-28.

UH entered the bottom of the fifth inning leading, 5-2. Amanda Tauali'i hit a bases-empty homer with one out, and two more runs scored on walks to Melissa Gonzalez and Jenna Rodriguez with two outs. With the bases-loaded Aguirre singled to first base, scoring Jessica Iwata and Gonzales, to make make it 10-2, and end the game because of the eight-run differential rule.

The Rainbows jumped on UC Davis starting pitcher Alex Holmes for three runs in the first and two runs in the second for a 5-0 lead. Aguirre had a two-run single in the first inning.

Rodriguez had three RBIs without a hit: a run-scoring groundout in the first, a sacrifice fly to center field in the second and the run-scoring walk in the fifth.

UH starter Stephanie Ricketts allowed five hits, struck out two and walked four in five innings.
