Firefighters battle 300-acre blaze on Big Island
Five Big Island Fire Department companies and two volunteer companies are battling a brush fire near North Kohala on the Big Island, officials said.
The brush fire, which broke out about 10:23 a.m., is near the 12 mile marker of the Akonipule Highway and has burned about 300 acres so far.
No injuries have been reported and the fire is not threatening any structures, officials said.
