Aloha,
Today was a great day to play softball. The weather warmed up a little bit and the sun was shinning.
Everyone woke up, ate breakfast and got ready for the game. We arrived early at the field and started our usual warmup.
The atmosphere was intense considering we were playing the home team, but surprisingly, I think Hawai'i brought more fans than Stanford. It is always nice being the away team with more fans than the home team. It means a lot to the team for all of our friends and family to come so far to watch us play.
The game started off in true Hawai'i softball fashion. We came out swinging the bats hard and loaded the bases in the first inning. Alex Aguirre came through with a clutch (two-run) double to put us up on the board early. Whenever we are ahead early everyone seems to let out a sigh of relief.
As the game went on Stanford scored a few runs, which put a little pressure on our defense, but we stayed strong and pushed through it. Our offense came through putting up six runs and never let up.
Overall, the team played great and we made it easy on ourselves going into the championship game with the least amount of games possible.
After the game, everyone went their separate ways for lunch and lounging. Some people went to the Stanford vs. Texas Tech game, which Texas Tech ended up winning 6-3, putting Texas Tech in the championship game against us.
We have reached our goal of making it to the championship game of the tournament, but as I have said before, we are not just happy to be here we want to win and go on.
Although it may seem like an upset for Texas Tech to beat Stanford, Texas Tech is not to be taken lightly. They are a good team with a lot of lefty slappers, which is hard to defend.
I reminded the girls once again that no one is going to let down from this point on. The team is excited to be in good standing for the tournament and anxious to play. I know we are going to come out strong tomorrow. Hopefully, we come out again with the W.
