Medical Examiner identifies man killed on H-1 Freeway
The man killed Saturday on the H-1 Freeway while bending over to fix a tow rope has been identified as Poasi Paongo, 39, of Waianae.
Pango had stopped his pickup truck near the Kapolei exit in the right lane of the H-1 Freeway and was checking a tow rope on a vehicle he was pulling when a third vehicle crashed from behind, crushing Paongo between his truck and the vehicle he was towing.
He was pronounced dead at the scene following the 1:35 a.m. accident.
Paongo was the 29th traffic fatality of the year on Oahu, the same number at this time last year.
