Two players in key positions on contending teams shared Player of the Year honors in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association White Conference.

Kaimukī pitcher/catcher Eddie Char and Radford shortstop Jobi Fontenot won top honors after a recent vote of league coaches.

Char, a senior, was the Bulldogs' ace and went 4-0 in the regular season without allowing an earned run. He had 34 strikeouts in 24 innings. When he wasn't pitching, Char played catcher and batted .412 with three doubles, three triples and 12 runs scored. His on-base percentage was .535.

Fontenot, a sophomore, helped Radford finish the regular season with a 12-0 record. He batted .500, with two doubles, three triples and two home runs. He had 14 RBIs, and his on-base percentage was .568.

Waipahu led the White Conference all-star first team with five selections: second baseman Jarinn Abreu, third baseman Sam Chee, outfielders Edward Agag and Jonathan Casamina, and pitcher Drake Yoshioka.

Besides Fontenot, Radford landed his brother, J.B., at first base, Zachary Lagier in the outfield and catcher Troy Evans.

Kaimukī pitcher Ma'anoa Tau and McKinley designated hitter John Ka'awa round out the first team.

Radford's Lon Passos was named Coach of the Year.
