Educational tours of Waihee Watershed offered

Hui o Ko'olaupoko and KEY Project have partnered to host the first in a series of educational watershed tours to help empower people to become familiar with them and take actions to improve them.

The first tour is from 9 a.m. to noon June 12 at KEY Project, 47-200 Waihe'e Road.

The Waihe'e Watershed walk includes a visit to the wetland at the mouth of Waih'e Stream, a historic house, lo'i sites in Waihe'e Valley and a hike to a nearby waterfall.

Space is limited and reservations are required by calling 381-7202.

Participants should wear long pants, comfortable hiking shoes and sun protection. Bring water, lunch or snack, insect repellant and camera.
