BOUTIQUE A DREAM COME TRUE
Farida Ong has long fostered the dream of having her own store. Her vision for it? The quaint boutiques she used to frequent in her East Village neighborhood in New York City. So, in spite of the shaky economic times, she courageously opened Fishloaves at 661 Ke'eaumoku St. (inside Sam Sung Plaza).
Why "Fishloaves"? "It is definitely a high-risk type of venture, but I was at Sunday Mass one day and the pastor spoke about the miracle of two fishes and five loaves that fed 5,000 people, so that gave me hope and courage," Ong said.
In keeping with the economy, Ong has kept her price points down, with every piece between $6.50 and $40.
