Swimwear designer Louisa Ngum of Honey Girl Water Wear and fashion designer Ida Teiti of Tiare Teiti are putting on a fashion show at Paradise Beachside Barbecue at Paradise Cove in Ko Olina Resort. The paniolo style barbecue is part of the Hawai'i Food & Wine Paradise weekend of events. The fashion show is at 7 p.m. tomorrow.

In keeping with the show's theme, "Back to the Future," the designers have invited Jacqueline Kaleikini to participate. Kaleikini, one of Hawai'i's first bikini designers in the 1960s, will show her original vintage suits.

Tickets are $100 at www.hawaiifoodandwineparadise.com.

BOUTIQUE A DREAM COME TRUE

Farida Ong has long fostered the dream of having her own store. Her vision for it? The quaint boutiques she used to frequent in her East Village neighborhood in New York City. So, in spite of the shaky economic times, she courageously opened Fishloaves at 661 Ke'eaumoku St. (inside Sam Sung Plaza).

Why "Fishloaves"? "It is definitely a high-risk type of venture, but I was at Sunday Mass one day and the pastor spoke about the miracle of two fishes and five loaves that fed 5,000 people, so that gave me hope and courage," Ong said.

In keeping with the economy, Ong has kept her price points down, with every piece between $6.50 and $40.
