Joby Ramos' versatility helped Roosevelt fill out its lineup. Normally a setter, Ramos was asked to split his time as outside hitter this year.
Normally a setter, Ramos was asked to split his time as outside hitter this year. His play and senior leadership helped the Rough Riders win their second straight O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red title, and he was chosen by league coaches as the OIA Red East Player of the Year for the second straight year.
Kainoa Mitchell, Roosevelt's undersized but powerful outside hitter, earned first-team honors. Kalani placed two players on the first team in setter Chase Suzumoto and outside hitter Angelo Berardy. Also receiving first-team honors were Alvin Faamausili and Bryson Morn of Farrington, and Joel Hendrix and Alan Piedad of Castle.
Kalani's Kawika Marasco was voted Coach of the Year. Marasco led Kalani's turnaround season as the Falcons qualified for the state tournament after not making it the year before. Kalani's four losses during the OIA season were all to Roosevelt, which was undefeated in league play.
