Maui girl in NFL punt, pass, kick final

Lahaina's Lalelei Mataafa has advanced to the NFL Punt, Pass and Kick national finals Sunday, prior to the AFC Divisional playoff game in San Diego.
Mataafa, who advanced through local and sectional championships held throughout the NFL regular season, will compete with four others in the girls 10-11 division. Her competitors will be from Colorado, Oregon and Wisconsin. The top four scorers in each age group from around the country qualified as national finalists.
Mataafa will be among 32 players from around the country competing in the event. More than 3.5 million boys and girls competed in NFL Punt, Pass and Kick this year.
All participants launch one punt, one pass and one kick, with scores based on distance and accuracy (in feet).
All participants and their guest are provided airfare, hotel accommodations and tickets to the AFC Divisional playoff game between the Chargers and New York Jets.
WESTSIDE 8-MAN TEAM SEEKING PLAYERS
The Westside Hawaiian Warriors Big Boyz eight-man football team is holding registration for players from Kapolei and Leeward O'ahu.
Players should be 14 to 15 years old and weigh from 130 pounds to 270 pounds.
Practice is held at Kamokila Field from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.
The Westside Warriors will be playing in the 32-team Pacific Big Boyz Conference.
The team will travel to Kaua'i Jan. 30 to play an exhibition game against the Kaua'i Bulldogs.
The Westside team is also looking for coaches.
